District Board of Supervisor Elections.
Conservation District Announces Election Results
A new Supervisor has been elected to the Oxford County Soil
and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Gary Hill, of North
Waterford, was elected to a 3 year position as supervisor on January 3, 2012.
He will join our dedicated group of volunteers who serve to lead the
Conservation district in it's mission and programs.
New Supervisor Information
Gary Hill: Gary is currently a Police Detective
with Norway Police after 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff for Oxford County. He is
also a veteran of United States Army Military Police Corps. A graduate of Oxford
Hills High School, Gary went on to study Criminal Law at Pikes Peak Community
College in Colorado. He and his wife Lori live in Waterford on land that has
been in his family since 1800’s. This includes woodlots, fields and a small
trout pond.
Gary has
a small Christmas tree plantation, harvests firewood, and operates a small
portable saw mill. In spring he’s involved with maple syrup production. An
active member of SWOAM, Gary serves as an executive board member for the Western
Maine Chapter, and is a member of the American Tree Farm Association. He has
also served on the Oxford County Board of Supervisors in a temporary position on
the Board of Supervisors for the past year.
The Oxford County SWCD is a legal subdivision of
state government. It was established to assist local communities with soil
and water concerns. The Board of Supervisors directs programs to assist
individuals, groups, and municipalities with their conservation needs.
